DESIRE & DEDICATION: SPEID DOWNPLAYS PERSONAL GLORY, PRAISES CAVALIER’S PROJECT

📍KINGSTON, JAMAICA — JUNE 28, 2025

🏆 Cavalier SC’s head coach, Rudolph Speid, has become one of Jamaica’s most decorated coaches with three Jamaica Premier League (JPL) titles, but the soft-spoken tactician insists the club’s growth and commitment to fans matter far more than personal accolades.

🎯 HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 🟢 Cavalier defeats Mount Pleasant 6-5 on penalties to secure back-to-back JPL titles.

  • 🏅 3 titles in 5 years for Speid and Cavalier — a feat matched by only a few clubs since 1991.

  • ⚽ Cavalier now sits 6th on the all-time JPL winners list with 4 championships.

  • 🌍 Speid also led the team to the Concacaf Caribbean Cup title and a historic run to the Concacaf Champions Cup quarter-finals, where they faced Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.

🗣️ WHAT SPEID SAID:

“I don’t know if I’m the best... what I know is that we have dedicated fans, and our greatest desire is to not let them down.”
“Since the pandemic, we’ve been in five finals — won three — and reached the semi-finals every year for the last eight. That’s the real story.”

Speid emphasized that club success, player development, and fan commitment matter more than individual glory. Despite being hailed as one of the Caribbean’s top coaches with a Concacaf A Licence, Speid keeps his focus on Cavalier’s mission.

📊 DID YOU KNOW?

  • Only Arnett Gardens (2001–02) and Portmore United (2018–19) have repeated as champions in the last three decades.

  • Cavalier played a record 55 matches in one season due to domestic and international tournaments.

Is Rudolph Speid Jamaica’s best football coach right now?
